The Lamp Of Thoth - Portents, Omens & Dooms

The Lamp Of Thoth are a heavy/doom metal band from Yorkshire, England. They're not particularly well-known, but this album is right up at the top of my favourite recent discoveries. The best way I can think of describing their sound is a blend of Ozzy-era Sabbath with recent Cathedral... Anyway, it's hella fun to listen to and a must-have for any doom fan. I certainly love the lamp, anyway...

1. I Love The Lamp
2. Witchcraft & The Law
3. Wings Of Doom
4. The House
5. Blood On Satan's Claw
6. Victorian Wizard
7. You Will Obey
8. Pagan Daze
9. Hand Of Glory
10. Satan's Hammer

KYPCK - Cherno

This Soviet-themed Finnish doom metal sung in Russian is innovative and original. A fantastic debut from a fantastic band, with very few faults to my ears.

2. Rozhdestvo V Murmanske (Christmas in Murmansk)
3. Predatel (Traitor)
4. 1917
5. Chernaya Dyra (The Black Hole)
6. Stalingrad
7. Ne Prosti (Do Not Forgive)
8. Ocherednye (The Usual)
